Jack Powers was offered a scholarship during his visit to Arizona State last weekend, and he decided to wait until he got home to make a decision. During an in-home visit Tuesday night the Salinas (Calif.) Palma lineman informed Sun Devil Offensive Line Coach Bob Connelly that he has decided to pledge to Arizona State.
"It feels pretty awesome," Powers told Devils Digest Tuesday night. "On my visit I really liked the coaches, all the players and just everything that is going on with the program. They have so much discipline and that can help but be successful and I really like that.
"I know Arizona State is such a great institution. I want to be a Business or Engineering major and they both have great schools for that. So I really like the education part of that. I have friends down there at the school that absolutely love it so I think I will too."
The 6-6 245-pound Jack Powers is rated as a three-star defensive end ranked 75th in his class, but is being recruited as an offensive lineman by the Sun Devils.
"Coach Connelly said I'm long and athletic," Powers stated, "He thinks I can be a great left tackle. I'm ready to work hard and do everything he tells me to do to be successful. When I committed Coach Connelly was pretty stoked."
Powers had offers from Pac-12 schools Utah and Washington State, as well as Air Force, Fresno State and Utah State.
