Bulldog Playbook updates the 2013 newcomers on the offensive and defensive lines.

LG: Sean Rubalcava - Sean Rubalcava has had the best camp so far out of Fresno State's offensive line additions. At 6-foot-4, 295 lbs, the junior college transfer has moved into the second team at left guard. He is now playing behind Alex Fifita who moved to the position this fall. Rubalcava and James Le'au would likely be first and second in line to replace an interior lineman this season.

RT David Patterson - With Fifita moving to left guard, David Patterson moved into the second team at right tackle behind Justin Northern. Patterson and Josh Tremblay currently add depth at tackle, but Alex Fifita could move back to the tackle position in the event of an injury. Patterson will redshirt if he is not needed this season.

OL Elijah Cox - Elijah Cox reported to fall camp at 6-foot-4, 297 lbs. Cox is currently practicing with the third team offensive line. Cox will likely redshirt in 2013, and offensive line coach Cameron Norcross plans for him to add depth after a year of conditioning and strength training.

C: James Funk - James Funk, a walk-on from Fresno City, has earned a spot on the second team at center. Funk is listed at just 6-foot, not typical of Fresno State's offense, but has impressed teammates and coaches as a surprising walk on addition.

NG: Ioane Sagapolu - On signing day, coach Tim DeRuyter explained that Sagapolu's presence would allow nose guard Tyeler Davison to play at defensive end at times while Sagapolu lined up at nose guard. Sagapolu is still learning the defense, but has played up to his expectations so far. However, Sagapolu has an unexpected competitor for playing time in Maurice Poyadue. Both players may see reps at nose guard this season.

NG: Ryan Steele - Ryan Steele reported to camp at 6-foot, 301 lbs. Steele will likely add depth in the near future, but the 2013 fall camp has been a quiet one for him, due to depth. Tyeler Davison, Maurice Poyadue, and Ioane Sagapolu all playing at nose guard has left few reps for true freshman Ryan Steele to stand out. Steele will likely redshirt this season.

DE: Claudell Louis - At 6-foot-4, 286 lbs, Claudell Louis was a big addition from the junior college ranks for Fresno State. Louis has not disappointed, and even took second team reps at time this fall. However, it appears that Louis will redshirt this season due to the depth ahead of him. The coaching staff is very confident with Todd Hunt and Ben Letcher in their two-deep. Defensive ends Nikko Motta, Andy Jennings, and Letcher are all seniors, meaning Louis could see significant playing time for two years after a redshirt season.

DE: Nate Madsen - Nate Madsen was recruited at both defensive end and tight end out of high school. Madesen has played on defense through fall camp. He faces a loaded depth chart and will likely redshirt this season.
