Interest Building For Obanor
Clovis North HS (Calif.) has had 2015 prospects Jacob Daniel and Bolu Olorunfunmi commit to USC and UCLA respectively, but cornerback Noruwa Obanor is also getting noticed by Pac-12 schools as well. The 6-foot-2 defensive back currently holds seven offers from Mountain West and FCS schools. The DB has good recovery speed and his height and length make him effective in the secondary. "It helps a lot especially in jump ball situations," Obanor said of his height. "It doesn't matter if I was 5'9'', I would still have the same aggressiveness going to the ball. But being 6'2'' and having longer arms definitely helps a lot." Obanor will also return to the offensive side of the ball this season - to his original wide receiver position. "Before playing corner I was actually a receiver. I just got moved to the cornerback position last year. So it's more of just getting refreshed back to the position." Obanor is primarily being recruited as a defensive back, but could see attention soon as a receiver as well. He currently holds offers from Fresno State, Nevada, San Diego State, Cal Poly, Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona and Yale. "The only school I've been able to visit so far is Fresno State because it's right over here, but I'm also looking to also visit Nevada," Obanor said. "Fresno State, I went there and saw the new additions they added to the weight room… Mostly talking to the coaches." Obanor says he is hearing from several other schools including Northwestern, Cal, Stanford, USC, UCLA, Washington State, Washington, Colorado, Colorado State and Louisville. Obanor says academics and alumni system will weigh heavily into his decision. He says he intends to go through the entire recruiting process before making a decision.
