Bulldogs Targeting Quarterback

M.C. Poe is getting interest from Fresno State and competed at the Bulldogs' 7-on-7 camp.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral three-star quarterback M.C. Poe holds an offer from Hawaii and is hearing primarily from three other schools this summer.

"My summer has been going pretty well," Poe said. "Schools I've been hearing from right now - I have an offer from Hawaii so I'm in contact with them, Fresno State, San Diego State and a little bit from Cal. Those are probably the main four schools right now."

Poe competed at a 7-on-7 competition hosted at one of the schools this month, at Fresno State. Poe led his Cathedral HS team to the championship for a second straight year at Fresno State's 7-on-7 camp. He showed off his accuracy and command of his offense as Cathedral came out on top of the 19 team tournament.

"It was great," Poe said of the camp. "We went out there, we won the tournament… Our whole team was real competitive, we just seemed like we were really focused that day. We had one close game, but it was a good day."

At the camp, Poe had a chance to talk to Fresno State offensive coordinator Dave Schramm and the coach he is primarily being recruited by, Jordan Peterson.

"I actually threw with the offensive coordinator, I threw with him after one of our games," Poe said. "The guy who is actually recruiting me from Fresno State, coach Peterson, I talked to him while I was there too so it was good.

Poe thinks an offer could be coming soon from the Bulldogs.

"They've just been telling me that they really like me," Poe continued. "I think they're definitely close to offering. They haven't offered yet, but I'm definitely on their board and they want me to come out for some games this year… Hopefully the offer comes soon. That would definitely be a school that I'd be interested in.

There was little time to check out the campus for Poe during the camp, but he says he had a chance to see some of the facilities the year prior.

"I really like their stadium and the way their stadium is set up," Poe said. "Their locker room is real cool. I know a couple people that play for Fresno so I figured it would be cool to go there."

Of the schools Poe is hearing from, he is also high on California.

"I really like Cal-Berkeley," Poe said. "I think that would be a great school, one for the education because it's just a great academic school and they have a great coaching staff up there with coach Franklin and coach Dykes."
