What a great treat we got to see this past Friday night in Fresno.
We got to see Fresno State win a close but thrilling game over the Bulldogs non-conference rival Oregon State.
Fresno State kicker Brett Visintainer nailed a 47-yard field goal with 31 seconds remaining in the game to give the Bulldogs a 16-14 edge over the visiting Beavers. The kick was as clutch as you can get and pretty much ended any life the Beavers had with the clock on the Bulldogs side. The ‘dogs received the ball on deep in the Beaver territory after the defense stuffed Oregon State running back Steven Jackson on the 1 yard line with two minutes and fifty four seconds remaining in the game down 13-14. The courageous Jeff Grady led the Dogs down field and after a timeout, Visintainer walked on the field and did his thing in a do or die situation. Once it went through the goal posts the crowd went crazy and it was over.
“As soon as it came off my foot, I knew it was solid," Visintainer said. "Next thing I knew, I was jumping up and down with Duncan and Jordan."
It was also a great day for the Bulldog defense. They had 5 interceptions, two by safety Dee Meza. The defense deserves the game ball for what they did in this game. It was just amazing. When the game was on the line the ‘Dogs defense stepped up. The Bulldogs just wanted it more and the final score proves that. It was a great game and just added to the heated rivalry that Oregon State and Fresno State have had in recent years
