The Texans released David Carr last month and signed with the Panthers Friday. The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2002 Draft will serve as Jake Delhomme’s backup.
Carr has completed 60% of passes in his five-year NFL career with 59 touchdowns, but has thrown 65 interceptions and sacked 249 times.
He became expendable after the Texans obtained QB Matt Schaub in a trade from Atlanta.
Carr visited Seattle recently and probably had other opportunities to start but opted for the backup spot in Carolina.
