McCauley, Williams Drafted in Third

Paul Williams

Fresno State cornerback Marcus McCauley and wide receiver Paul Williams were drafted in the third round of the NFL Draft by Minnesota and Tennessee, respectively, late Saturday.

The Vikings selected McCauley with eighth pick of the third round (72nd overall). Williams was drafted eight picks later by the Titans.

Marcus McCauley was arguably one of the best cornerbacks in the nation heading into the 2006 but after a subpar senior season his stock dropped. He had a nice showing at the NFL Combine in February, running a 4.39 forty.

Paul Williams was injured a majority of senior year but still was drafted on the first day of the draft. His numbers dropped dramatically from 2005 to 2006, but he still managed to turn the head of NFL scouts with his size and speed.
