Sr. Rakim Dawkins (5-8, 170) had an excellent game on both sides of the ball vs. the Valley’s No. 1 ranked team Fresno (Calif.) Bullard. Nonetheless, Central fell behind 21-0 and their comeback came up short in the 27-20 loss back on September 28.
Jr. Brian Easter (5-10.5, 175) is a solid back. He was slated to be the feature back in the offense but has shared the load with Dawkins this season. He has rushed for 368 yards and 6 touchdowns. Dawkins has 479 and 7 touchdowns. In spite of non-existent passing game, the duo has been able to run effectively. Central is 10 points away from being 6-1.
Both play both ways and give the Grizzlies’ a tough secondary with their style of play. Easter in particular showed great acceleration and speed catching Bullard’s Clifton Rogers from behind on a first-half run. Meanwhile, Dawkins was able to run clear across the field on a corner blitz and hit Bullard QB Phillip Brandt as he released the ball causing a near fumble.
