T.J. McDonald (6-1, 180) had 83 tackles through nine games heading into Thursday night’s matchup with Fresno (Calif.) Memorial. The four-star prospect continues to improve his stock and leads the Tigers in tackles on the season. Edison capped its unbeaten regular season with a 41-12 victory to finish 9-0-1 as it heads into the Central Section playoffs.
The Tigers are expected to be the No. 1 seed, and McDonald is one of the big reasons why. He is following his father’s footsteps. Tim McDonald Sr. is a former Edison High School standout who became an All-American at USC and an NFL Pro Bowler with the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. The elder McDonald is the Tigers’ head coach and T.J. says his father is working to make him a better player.
McDonald currently has offers from Utah and Arizona. He is also receiving a lot of attention from numerous schools including Florida and Florida State among others. He is taking an unofficial visit to Oregon this weekend to check out the Ducks-Arizona State game. We caught up with him Thursday night; listen to what he had to say about his recruitment…
