The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Senior Guard Kevin Bell with 12 points and 7 assists and Senior Forward Hector Hernandez added 11 points. The Bulldogs scored a season low 50 points on just 34 percent shooting from the floor.
Arizona was led by Freshman Guard Jerryd Bayless who scored 21 points on 8 of 14 shooting and Sophomore Forward Chase Budinger who added 16.
The Bulldogs did not get off to a slow start against Arizona, leading 17-15 midway through the first half. But Arizona eventually got things going outscoring Fresno State 20-2 to finish out the first half. The Wildcats followed the first half run with a 10-5 run to begin the second half.
On the game, the Bulldogs were out rebounded 36-22 and had only 13 assists to 11 turnovers.
Only one Bulldog, Kevin Bell, was able to reach the foul line in Sunday’s game. He was 1-3 from the line and is shooting 67 percent from the free-throw line this year.
The Bulldogs must now quickly turn around and prepare for Presbyterian College. With finals coming up for the student-athletes this week, Coach Cleveland will have limited time to prepare for the Thursday night match-up at the Save Mart Center. The Bulldogs must win this game to keep from falling under .500 for the first time this season.
