Valley WR Waiting on Fresno State

Central Cali standout has one offer.

One of the top wide receivers in Central California has an official trip scheduled to UNLV January 18. He expected to take a trip to Fresno State the week before and Nevada the week after. However, he has not heard from the Bulldogs or Wolf Pack this week. BarkBoard.com caught up with him Wednesday night and he says FS last contacted him during an in-school visit the week before Christmas.

Stockton (Calif.) St. Mary's WR Gerome Surrell says he has one offer from UNLV. He says Nevada will offer him on his visit, which he expects to take January 25. But he is unsure on where Fresno State stands.

"They said they were interested," Surrell said of the Bulldogs. "Coach [Tom] Mason stopped by my school [before Christmas.] He said there were two other receivers they were looking at and that they wanted to get me up on a visit."

"[Fresno State] has not called back to set the visit. I'm not going to commit until I take all my visits."

However, Surrell has not ruled out committing on his UNLV visit.

"They offered me my junior season," Surrell said of the Rebels. "They are showing the most interest. If no one comes after me, I'm committing. UNLV is my top school right now."

"I'm going to call Nevada tonight, maybe I'll call Fresno State."

Surrell led St. Mary's with 776 receiving yards averaging a staggering 22.82 yards per catch on 34 receptions with eight touchdowns. He helped lead the Rams to a 12-2 record and a berth into the Sac-Joaquin Section Championship.
