Jefferson's Big Three

Rolando "Bubba" Jefferson

Fresno (Calif.) Edison WR Rolando "Bubba" Jefferson is a bonafide blue chipper. He is physically ready to play the college game, and he is arguably the most naturally gifted athlete to come out of talent rich Edison in the last 25 years. BB.C caught up with him Thursday to talk recruiting, his favorites, and the chances he would stay home to play his college ball.

Rolando Jefferson (6-3, 200) is a man among boys on the football field. He averaged 24 yards per reception in route to 11 touchdowns and nearly 1,000 yards receiving. What make the stats standout is the fact Jefferson faced constant double-teams, and he sat out the second half in about half his games. Edison is stocked with talent including USC commit T.J. McDonald and Scout.com's top CB in the nation, Cliff Harris. Nonetheless, if one watches film from last season, No. 3 shows up the rest of the competition.

Academics are an area of concern. Jefferson tells us he is working on his grades, but he has not thought about colleges in depth. Nonetheless, he does have a few favorites.

"Miami just offered me," said Jefferson. "They talked to my coach. Man, I love Miami. I would love to play at Miami."

"I still like the Trojans. USC has always been a favorite college. I also like Oregon; those are my top three." He says Oregon has offered, but he is still waiting on USC.

Jefferson says he is still open, and is not even ready to make his decision. He says he will sit down with his father sometime in August and discuss his options. Every school is still in the running including the one in his hometown. "Fresno State is a possibility," said Jefferson. "My dad really likes Fresno."

Jefferson talked to Bulldog Head Coach Pat Hill after a Fresno State spring scrimmage back in April while on an unofficial visit.

"[Coach Hill] verbally offered me," said Jefferson. "But we haven't got back in touch since then."

Outside of his unofficial to Fresno State, Jefferson visited USC for their spring game. In spite of everything, his summer is still undetermined. He says he is planning to attend this weekend's UnderArmour/Scout.com Oakland Combine. He missed last month's combine at the Home Depot Center because of a previous engagement.
