Fresno State rebounded from Monday night’s 7-6 defeat, erupting for a 19-10 win over Georgia in Game 2 of the College World Series finals. The victory ties the series and sets up the deciding game Wednesday night at 4 p.m. PT for the national title.

Fresno State’s unbelievable run continued Tuesday night behind an amazing offensive barrage. The ‘Dogs scored a 19-10 victory over Georgia and became the first team in College World Series to total 16+ runs in multiple games – FS beat Rice 17-5 in its CWS opener.

It did not look great for FS in the beginning. Justin Miller gave up three runs in the top of the first en route to Georgia building a 5-0 lead in the third. Miller lasted only 2 2/3 innings. Nonetheless, the Wonderdogs launched one of the greatest offensive attacks in CWS history. FS scored an incredible 15 runs in the subsequent three innings while Georgia countered with just one.

Steve Detwiler singled and scored on a wild pitch for Fresno State's first run and Susdorf followed with a bases-loaded, two-run single. Tommy Mendonca’s record-tying fourth home run of the CWS put the ‘Dogs ahead 6-5 during their six-run third inning. Moreover, Fresno State sent 10 to the plate in the fourth, and Steve Susdorf's two-run homer in the fifth made it 15-6. It was Susdorf’s second homerun of the CWS and 13th of the season.

The ‘Dogs took the lead into the seventh, but UGA was not going to let FS run away with the game effortlessly. The Peach State Bulldogs rallied in the seventh cutting the lead to a manageable 15-10. Georgia scored four runs against Holden Sprague, but the ‘Dogs responded with three more in the bottom half.

Fresno State scored the most runs against a Georgia team since Tennessee's 19-12 win in the 2001 CWS. The ‘Dogs also overcame their largest deficit to win a game this season. Mendonca’s record homer ties him with seven others who have hit four homers in a College World Series.
