has spent the last few weeks working with speed coach Curtis Allen. Bowen says he feels he could shatter his 4.43 time from the UA/Scout.com L.A. Combine. He will get his chance August 2 at the Skills Camp at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia. The camp will be run by Coach Allen and former Edison and current COS DB Coach Tony Perry.
Bowen had a stellar afternoon this past Saturday helping lead his Pioneer squad to the championship game at the Redwood Passing Tournament. Mt. Whitney was 0-10 last season but ran through preliminary play before “upsetting” 2007 Central Section champions Visalia (Calif.) El Diamante in the semifinals and losing to Visalia (Calif.) Redwood in the championship.
Bowen has been offered by Portland State, but he would still like to hear from UCLA, Colorado State, and Fresno State among others. Cornell and other Ivy League schools are showing major interest, and are close to offering. He scored an 1800 on his SAT. But he says he prefers to stay out West so his family can see him play.
