Practice began today for the Fresno State Bulldogs. The freshman took the field first running 11-on…
A.J. Jefferson averaged over 35 yards per return last season. He was just shy of recording 1,000 return yards in 2007 despite returning kicks in just seven games. He also aims to become the starting punt returner, replacing Clifton Smith. While Devon Wylie began 2007 as the starting kick returner and battled in spring to become the punt returner as well, Jefferson's toughest competition in fall camp will likely come from Marlon Moore. The ultra confident Marlon Moorephoto by BB.C Moore has his own goals and is not one to shy away from competition. Moore has the inside track to become the new punt returner after filling in the last two seasons in spot duty. In addition, before we caught up with Moore and Jefferson Tuesday afternoon, Moore let Jefferson know his job at kick returner was not safe either. Jefferson may be the best pure returnman in the nation. Nonetheless, the battle for the starting spot will be interesting to watch unfold this month… For more on both players watch their interviews from Tuesday's practice… Moore Interview – Jefferson Interview – ©Copyright 2008, BarkBoard.com and Scout.com.
