Oso Back in Starting Role

Richard "Oso" Pacheco

Richard "Oso" Pacheco began the season as the starting center. But injuries pushed him out of the starting lineup. Now, injuries to teammates have pushed him back into a starting role, this time at left guard…

The tackle position has been stable. Right tackle Kenny Avon and left tackle Bobby Lepori have started every game this season. However, the inside of the line has experienced its share of shuffling save right guard Andrew Jackson.

Richard Pacheco, aka "Oso", had a great fall camp earning and securing the starting spot at center. Joe Bernardi, who started five games last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury, took over the center spot after Pacheco suffered an injury after the Wisconsin game. That coupled with the season-ending injury to Cole Popovich after the Wisconsin game has hurt interior Bulldog offensive line depth and experience.

Pacheco was hampered the second half of September and much of October. It gave way to converted tackle Devan Cunningham to start at left guard in place of Popovich. Now, with Cunningham sidelined this week, Pacheco makes a return to the starting lineup but this time at guard.
