Travis Brown (6-2, 235) recorded 155 tackles, two interceptions, and five forced fumbles this season. He set the school record for career tackles in 2007 after recording 147 and 163 tackles, as a sophomore and junior, respectively. He also holds the career mark for forced fumbles with 15. The four-star standout committed to Fresno State in September over six other offers and with a number of others close to offering.
One reason for schools not pursuing him further was the underlying presumption that Brown wanted to play for his father, Fresno State defensive coordinator Dan Brown. Nevertheless, Brown will retire this off-season and the Bulldogs will hire a new defensive coordinator.
“More schools have been calling lately,” said Brown. “Washington wants me to come up for a visit.”
Cal, Oregon, and USC were three schools Brown favored and possibly was close to receiving an offer. Arizona, Colorado, and Washington State—which all offered—were recruiting him the hardest until he committed to the Bulldogs. With his dad retiring, these schools among others could make a late push for Brown, especially after reviewing his senior film.
