The Badgers received some votes in the preseason polls and opened the season with a 28-20 win over Northern Illinois last Saturday while winning their 12th straight season opening game. Coach Brett Bielema is in his fourth season at Wisconsin with a 29-11 overall record.
John Clay, the team's top rusher in 2008, opened the season with two touchdowns, while quarterback Scott Tolzien threw for 257 yards and one score. Isaac Anderson is an explosive player on offense as he touched the ball four times against Northern Illinois and had 123 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, including an 80-yard pass play.
The Series
It's been a short series but a memorable one for Bulldog fans. The Badgers own a 2-1 lead in the series which began in 2001, and all of the game have been close.
The 'Dogs won in Madison in the first game 32-20 and then lost the following season 23-21 on a late UW field foal. Last season, the Badgers brought a No. 10 national ranking and beat the Bulldogs, who at the time were also ranked in the Top 25, 13-10 in front of a soldout crowd at Bulldog Stadium.
