The Fresno State defense was atrocious for most of the first half, allowing 363 yards and 27 points. Down 27-17, the ‘Dogs buckled down in the second half holding Utah State scoreless en route to their fourth straight win.

Mathews carried the ball just six times for 40 yards in the first half as the Aggies stacked the box forcing Fresno State to beat them with the pass.
