Ivy to Camp at Fresno State
Tevin Ivy (5-8, 160) can play a number of positions running back, slot receiver, cornerback, safety, and kick returner. Most schools are recruiting him as a running back and cornerback. Despite his versatility, his natural position is cornerback. At the Las Vegas Bader/New Level 7on7 Passing Tournament in March, Ivy didn't allow one touchdown against him while facing many of top receivers in the West. He doesn't possess blazing speed, but he is extremely quick and blessed with fluid hips. Spring practice doesn't start for Hoover until Monday, therefore, few if any schools have dropped by the campus. "No schools yet but I receive a lot of letters from UCLA and Fresno State," said Ivy. The Bulldogs along with Washington State and Vanderbilt have been recruiting him since his sophomore season. He expects Arizona and Arizona State to come by this week for his first week of spring football. Ivy had a solid showing last weekend at the Stanford NFTC. He also plans to camp at Fresno State and UCLA next month and Passing Down in July. "Through this camping experience, and Fresno State's camp, I should get an offer," said Ivy. "Fresno State is recruiting me the hardest. I talk to Pat Hill a lot because I go up there with [Hoover head coach Pat] Plummer. We have a lot of good conversations. They say I can play a lot of positions if I go, kick return, corner…" While the Bulldogs seeing him in different roles, the Commodores are strictly recruiting him as running back. "They requested my transcripts," said Ivy, who reports a 3.0 core GPA and a 1070 SAT score. "I'm retaking it on June 5." But Ivy wants to play closer to home. "Arizona State, UCLA, and Fresno State are my favorite schools right now," he added. You can now follow BarkBoard.com via Twitter. Discuss in BarkBoard.com Forums.
